A mountain goat attempts to scale a cliff 100 feet high. Every minute, the goat bounds upward three feet but slips back two. How long does it take for the goat to touch the top of the mountain?

Solution:

For every one minute, the goat bounds upward three feet but slips back two. so, it will be up 1 feet. So, now at 95 minutes, it will be at 97 (94 + 3) feet and slips 2 feet. so, will be at 95 feet. at 96 minutes, it will be at 98 feet and slips 2 feet. so, will be at 96 feet. at 97 minutes, it will be at 99 feet and slips 2 feet. so, will be at 97 feet. at 98 minutes, it will be at 100 feet and and and … Oh, wait ! the top of the mountain is just touched. and that is what asked in the question. So, the answer is 98 minutes.
