100-meter race

Question:

Jack and Jill are in a 100-meter race. When Jill crossed the finish line, Jack was only at the 90-meter mark. Jill suggested they run another race. This time, Jill would start 10 meters behind the starting line. All other things being equal, will Jack win, will Jill win, or will it be a tie?

Solution: Jack will lose again. In the second race, Jill started 10 meters back. By the time Jack reaches the 90-meter mark, Jill will have caught up to him.

Therefore, the final 10 meters will belong to the faster of the two. Since Jill is faster than Jack, she will win the final 10 meters and, of course, the race.

Answer: Jill wins the 100-meter race again.
